Registered Clinical Counsellor

Hi, I’m Talya Wollner, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #22793) dedicated to helping individuals create meaningful, lasting change. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, self-esteem challenges, life transitions, trauma, and relationship concerns.

My work integrates EMDR with a strong theoretical foundation in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), an attachment-based model that helps us move beyond immediate symptoms and into the deeper emotional patterns shaping how you relate to yourself and others. Together, we explore the ways you’ve learned to cope and protect yourself, while also processing experiences that may feel stuck or unresolved, so you can feel more secure, connected, and clear.

My style is warm, grounded, and collaborative. I offer a steady, supportive space where you can show up as you are and engage in honest, meaningful work.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m an active Vancouverite who enjoys spending time on the trails and moving my body. I also understand the disorientation that can come with major identity shifts, having navigated my own transition away from a life centred around athletics. This experience informs the way I show up, with empathy, curiosity, and respect for how complex change can be.

I became a counsellor from a deep curiosity about people’s stories and the ways we adapt and evolve. I believe that when we bring awareness and compassion to the patterns shaped by our experiences, meaningful transformation becomes possible.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queen’s University and a Master of Counselling Psychology from Adler University. I have completed additional training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (Levels 1 & 2), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, and I am also a Certified Personal Trainer.

Optimism

I hold a deep belief in your capacity for change, even in the moments when things feel unclear or overwhelming. Optimism in my work isn’t about ignoring pain—it’s about trusting that your experiences, no matter how difficult, can be understood and transformed. I bring a steady sense of hope into our sessions, helping you stay connected to the possibility of something different, even when you feel untethered.

Growth

Growth is at the core of everything I do. I’m continually inspired by the ways we adapt, evolve, and make meaning of our experiences. Using an Emotionally Focused lens, I support you in exploring the patterns that once helped you survive but may now be limiting you. Together, we create space for real, lasting change—where you can expand your sense of self, deepen your relationships, and move forward with greater clarity and intention.

Balance

I believe meaningful therapy happens when care and connection go hand in hand. I aim to offer a space that is both steady and warm—where you feel safe, respected, and at ease to be fully yourself. Balance, to me, means holding both structure and compassion—creating a consistent, calm presence while making room for honesty, depth, and a healthy dose of humour.
