REGISTERED CLINICAL COUNSELLOR, ASSOCIATE THERAPIST
Hi, my name is Jennifer and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#19348) and EMDR Therapist with additional training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Somatic Therapy.
At the heart of my practice is the belief that healing happens in connection, and that each of us has the capacity to grow when we feel safe, seen, and supported. In my work, I aim to meet clients where they are—with warmth, compassion, and curiosity. My goal is to offer a non-judgmental and collaborative space grounded in trust, where you can begin to slow down, explore what is going on inside, and move through what is feeling stuck. Together, we will work to untangle the patterns that may be causing you distress or disconnection so you can develop new ways of relating—to yourself and others—with greater clarity and ease.
My approach is trauma-informed, attachment-focused, and strengths-based, and rooted in the belief that the mind and body are deeply connected. I tailor sessions to meet each person’s unique needs and goals, and often integrate EMDR with mindfulness, somatic practice, and self-compassion to help clients reconnect to their inner strength and resources.
I have experience helping adults and young adults navigate trauma, anxiety, depression, childhood abuse and neglect, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, relationship dynamics, stress, and major life and career transitions.
I bring more than 15 years of experience in the education and mental health fields in both Canada and the U.S. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on Human Development from Columbia University in New York. I began my career working with at-risk children and youth and have since worked in a variety of community and education settings supporting adults and young adults. Aside from private practice, I have worked in post-secondary institutions as an instructor, workshop facilitator for survivors of sexualized violence, and clinical counsellor. These experiences have deepened my understanding of people’s incredible capacity for growth and healing, and the importance of meeting individuals with care and compassion wherever they are on their journey.
I love learning and am always researching current, evidence-based approaches to best support my clients. Alongside my EMDR training, I have completed post-graduate trainings in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Attachment Theory—with a particular interest in the treatment of trauma and complex trauma.
I offer both in-person and online sessions.
